Antique Russian Demantoid & Rose Cut Diamond Bar Pin Brooch

This fabulous antique Demantoid bar pin is surprisingly versatile. Originally worn as a “modesty brooch” to hold a blouse or shawl together at the front, bar pins are now more common on lapels, hats, and scarves. This one was crafted right after the turn of the 20th century in Great Britain, made out of 14k gold and a platinum top. It is set centrally with a just-shy of 1/2ct round Demantoid garnet, with two more Demantoids in flowers on either end of the pin, as well as some rose cut Diamond accents. Demantoids are a rare type of green Garnet, at this time only mined in Russia. The one in the center of this pin has a fabulous horsetail inclusion, visible in photo attached, as proof of natural Russian origin. The color is a bright grass green with dispersive blue and orange flashes as it catches the light. This is a top quality piece, showing superb craftsmanship and finesse in every detail.
