This shimmering star jewel is a survivor of the Victorian era, when a fascination with God, the heavens, and astrology produced an increase in celestial designed jewels. This particular gold brooch is designed in an 8-pointed star design, with a beautiful Opal set in the center. The Opal is octagonal, mimicking the 8-sided shape of the piece. The Opal has an impressive rainbow of colors, clearly visible and prominent when worn. The Opal is surrounded by old mine cut Diamonds (chunky but sparkly) set in each of the star points. While this was made as a brooch for wear on a lapel, it could easily be converted to a pendant- contact us for details. The piece measures just over 1 inch across.
